North American Pairs

A highly prestigious “grassroots” event, the North American Pairs starts at the club level in June and continues into August. Club-level qualifications may be earned at any club in any unit in any district. A player may qualify as often as desired and with as many different partners as desired. At the district final, both players must have qualified at the club level (whether together or separately) and must be members of the parent district.

  1. District Final:

  • 2 sessions starting at 10h30 am, lunch break on your own between the two sessions. (
  • There are 3 flights. Players only play others within their flight: A (Open), B (0-2500) and C (0-500 non Life Master).
  • The top 2 pairs from each of Flights B & C and the top pair from Flight A may represent District 1 at the ACBL NAP finals. (District and unit subsidies are available for those advancing.)
  • Entry fee: $15 for the event per player in Unit 192 (players from Unit 151 pay $20 each)
  • Players must have qualified at club level during games held June – August in order to participate in the district final (See note.)

  1. Check with your club for their schedule of holding NAP Qualifying games.

  1. ACBL NAP Final: March 2019

NABC in Memphis, March 21-31, 2019.
Flight A on Wednesday and Thursday (March 20-21), and Flights B and C on Sunday and Monday (March 24-25).

Points: Gold and Red

 

Masterpoints: 

  • Club qualifying games: 50/50 red and black at .86 sectional rating for extra masterpoints.
  • District final: award masterpoints at a regional rating – part red and part gold.  Top pair in each flight (A, B and C) will receive gold and a section top in flights A & B will also receive gold.

 

District/ Unit Subsidies:

Subsidies for pairs travelling to the ACBL final are available from a combination of ACBL, District 1 and Unit 192.  The highest-ranked pair for each flight from Unit 192 will receive a minimum of $500 each towards travel expenses.  Other pairs who qualify for the ACBL final but are not the highest-ranked pair from the unit may be eligible for the District subsidy which last year was $200.
